Birthday Baby Girl!

I have been busy creating some lovely stuff with the new ranges just arrived over at the Crafty Boots Store. Stephanie-Emma specialises in character stamps and has a fab stock of Sylvia Zet, MelJen designs and Saturated Canary as well as being one of the few UK suppliers of the Some Odd Girls Range!!

I absolutely adore images by Sylvia Zet.. I think they are my favourite designer range ever.. you can see some examples of some older images I coloured a while back below!!

I love that the stamps are a gorgoeous thick Red Rubber and stamp lovely and they come ready mounted!! YAY!!! no more fighting with sticky scissors and mounting foam!!!

I chose the gorgeous Birthday Baby Girl image to work with. I also like that the images dont have lots of fiddly detail which is off putting to a lot of people.

I kept my card really simple making a backing paper using pan pastels and a stamping up stamp and the versamark technique.

I coloured the image with the New Graph-it pens.. these are definitely my favorite out of all the different pens ive tried and I think that shows in my colouring too. I also used the pens to colour a cream pearl to match, and the pastel to tint the ribbon. Final touches were some liquid pearls, a piece of bling and a sentiment stamped using a mini studio g alpha (which really is straight! however my photography isnt!)

I hope you like it and check back soon for some more pics using these lovely images!

pan pastel challenge - love and romance

Sorry its taken me as few days to blog this weeks pan Pastel Challenge but naughty Mr Blogger decided I wasn't allowed to add any pics.

The theme this week is love and romance and I decided to do a simple page in my A5 landscape journal.

I started by just randomly wiping colour from the magenta and turquoise pans directly onto the page.

I LOVE the Maimeri mediums and the iridescent medium as a lovely sheen to it so I mixed a little on my craft mat with some magenta pan pastel. I then used a sponge to apply it thru a heart mask.  That was then put to one side to dry......Nah!who am I kidding I'm so not that patient... I blasted it to death with my heat gun till it was dry!

Then I took my black graph it marker and doodled a border round the edge and drew round the hearts. Finally I filled in the border gaps with a white posca pen and added a simple sentiment using Tim Holtz Chit Chat word stickers.

I love the sheen on the hearts and I know that the hearts aren't perfect and the medium is over the edges in places. But I'm ok with that.. I'm learning to embrace imperfection. I also have no idea why my final pic was taken before I added the checked border lol.

I'll be back hopefully later this week with some sneak peeks at what ill be showing you on create and craft on Thursday

Until then please check out the other project on the pan pastel challenge blog and do join in - you don't have to use pastels so get creating!!

Hi Everyone!!

I am really really excited to be able to tell you that I am involved with the launch of a brand new alcohol marker.

I will be demonstrating this fab new pen on Create and Craft at 7pm on 14th February. It will only be available from Create and craft for the time being so well worth getting your orders in.

As you know I fell out of love with colouring a while back.. the pens were making my hands hurt, and the blending was hard. But since using these pens I have got my love back.

Now don't be thinking I'm not a stamper I have no use for these cos you do! I have used them in my journal, on canvases, on tags... think of them as colour.... if you use colour you can use these pens!!

They are a fab double ended pen with amazing quality nibs.. they have a great shape barrel and the most amazing vivid pigments... no more having to layer a million times to get a lovely shade!

They also work with a new product called the mix-it palette... have you ever laid a colour blend down on your image to realise its not right and you have ruined the piece? no more!! blend the colour on the unique palette and use the blender pen to transfer... and whats more if you love your custom colour you can go back to it weeks later and "reactivate" it with the blender to use again!

Create and craft will be offering some exclusive sets complete with storage too (I  know!! I *heart* storage!!) So please tune in and have a look and find out more about these fab markers. They are being brought to you by the people who brought you pan pastels so you know they are going to be artist quality.

In the mean time I will leave you with some snippets of things I have used the pens for!

Pan Pastel Week 5 - Animals

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are having a nice relaxing sunday? Its a busy one here... we have a Greyhound walk with the pack (a lurcher, a greyhound and 2 whippets) this morning and this afternoon Bella and I are off to talk about our experience at a local Homebirth meeting.

This week the theme over at the Pan Pastel Challenge is Animals - and tell you it feels like a zoo here sometimes with 3 kids and 4 dogs!!

I decided to do a Canvas based on an Idea I saw on the talented Helen Anderson's facebook page (I couldnt find your blog Helen! please message me so I can add it and credit you for my inspiration!!) ... she has been making new baby canvasses for a while so I contacted her and asked if she minded if I used hers as inspiration and she said i could so here we are hehe

I started by gessoing the canvas then adding a mix of different coloured pastels direct to the canvas to make the sea and the sky. I also added a bright red around the edge of the canvas (cos i liked how it looked on my star one!)

I then covered that in the Maimeri matt medium to seal it. I went over then with a couple of masks to create a bit of texture.. again using a darker shade of pastel, and a little white in the sky. I also made a sun in the corner with bright yellow pastel

I printed my Noahs Ark Digi from Whimsy stamps onto the most amazing super smooth card (you wait till this is available it will fly out its that fab!!) and coloured it with Graph-it markers. They are a great new alcolhol marker which are due to be launched next month and I love them... but I will be telling you more about that soon!!

I used a range of stamps to create texture in the background - they were just varous text etc stamped in smokey grey versafine.. I wasnt bothered if they didnt stamp properly as it was just for texture. I also used a black ink pad and a dylusions border stamp to stamp around the edge, and a blue ink across the horizon line.  Whilst the stamps were out I stamped the name onto some card.

I attached the digi and the name with more matt medium. Then using the maimeri gesso i used bottle caps, masks, a scraper (yep the boots card again!) and my fingers to add a bit more texture.

Finally when I was happy with all that I covered the top part with Matt medium. I used gloss medium on a brush over the ark and I used a texture sponge to dab the gloss gel onto the sea section to give the impression of water. I am really happy with the effect that gave!

Finally a bit of doodling with my black graph-it Marker and I was done :D

The Mediums, texture sponge, Canvas and pan pastels are available from Your Creativity Store
The Graph-it Markers and super smooth card will be exclusively available soon so stay tuned!!
The masks and stamps available from Crafty Boots
Noahs Art Digi stamp available from Whimsy Stamps

I hope you like my design and don't forget to head on over to the challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team have been up to and join in !!

Blogger ate my project ... and other ramblings

Hey everyone

Its been one hell of a couple of weeks here at Pinkhair HQ. I had the very sad news that a friend of mine lost his battle with a heart problem whilst waiting for a transplant. He was my age and leaves behind two very young children. Then the news this week that my aunt had also passed in her sleep. On top of that we have the normal stresses and strains and pains that being disabled and having a small family create and its been quite the nightmare.

On top of that Blogger ate my post with my Pan Pastel Nature challenge on it.

I will readd the pics here for you...

This weeks challenge at Pan Pastels Challenge Blog was called Stars. Unfortunately I wasnt able to upload it to the challenge blog in time (see above nightmare!) but I have added it here instead. I think I will hang it in my little boys room. I used a variety of Maimeri mediums, pastels and masks... my favourite part is the red starry sides.

I'll be back on Sunday with this weeks pan pastel challenge and hopefully can share some exciting news but until then take care, join the donor register and hug your kids extra tight... life ends far too soon!! xxxx
